CANWNT to face Switzerland in October FIFA Window

Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team will travel to Lucerne to face Switzerland in October international friendly

Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team (CANWNT) will meet Switzerland in an international friendly during the October FIFA Window. The match is set for Friday 24 October at the Swissporarena in Lucerne, with kickoff scheduled for 19:30 local time (13:30 ET / 10:30 PT).

The match with Switzerland (FIFA ranked #24) will provide strong opposition as Head Coach Casey Stoney and her FIFA 9th-ranked squad continue building toward upcoming international competitions, including the 2026 Concacaf W Championship in November 2026, which serves as qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup™.

“We want to continue to challenge ourselves against top-quality opponents to set the stage for future success. Switzerland is a skilled team that impressed with a strong run at this summer’s Euros, and their defensive organization makes them tough to break down. Facing them on their home soil will be an important test for our group, and these are exactly the kinds of matches that will help us grow and prepare for the big moments ahead.”

Casey Stoney, Women’s National Team Head Coach

This will mark the sixth all-time meeting between Canada and Switzerland at the Women’s “A” international level, dating back to 2010. Canada holds the advantage with four wins and one loss, with their most recent encounter being at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™ at BC Place in Vancouver, which ended in a 1:0 Round of 16 victory.

The match will air live on OneSoccer, available on the fuboTV Canada streaming service platform, as a linear channel on TELUS Optik TV (Ch. 980), as well as online at OneSoccer.ca and through the OneSoccer app. Fans will find extended coverage across Canada Soccer’s digital channels on Instagram, X, Facebook, BlueSky, TikTok, and YouTube featuring the hashtag #CANWNT.

CANWNT’s 2025 schedule is nearly finalized, with one additional fixture in the October window still to be announced. The team will then close out the calendar year in the November international window with a two-match series against Japan (FIFA ranked #8) in Nagasaki. The two nations will face off on Saturday 29 November and Tuesday 2 December.
