Alberta youth teams clinch 2024-25 APDL titles

Eight Alberta youth teams won their respective Alberta Player-Development League divisions for the 2024-25 season, including four of which have qualified for Canada Soccer’s 2025 PDP Championship in the U-15 and U-17 age categories. The eight Alberta teams represent the U-14 through U-17 age categories for both boys and girls.

Edmonton Scottish won the boys’ U-17 division while Calgary Rangers won the girls’ U-17 division. Both teams qualified as the “AB1” team for the PDP U-17 Cup. In the boys’ U-17 division, Scottish also won the APDL Cup, which means league runners up Calgary Villains qualified as the “AB2” team for the PDP U-17 Cup. In the girls’ division, Edmonton Scottish (girls) won the APDL Cup and qualified as the “AB2” team.

One age down, Calgary Foothills won the boys’ U-16 division while St. Albert Impact won the girls’ U-16 division.

Calgary Villains won the boys’ U-15 division while Calgary Blizzard won the girls’ U-15 division (as well as the APDL Cup). Both teams qualified as the “AB1” team for the PDP U-15 Cup. In the boys’ U-15 division, Calgary Foothills qualified as the “AB2” team as the APDL Cup winners. In the girls’ U-15 division, league runners up St. Albert Impact qualified as the “AB2” team.

One age down, Edmonton Scottish won the boys’ U-14 division while St. Albert Impact won the girls’ U-14 division.

As part of Canada Soccer’s Youth Competitions Network, the PDP Championship features four divisions across the PDP U-17 Cup and PDP U-15 Cup (boys and girls in each age category). With eight teams in each division, the PDP Championship will feature group matches from Wednesday 27 August through Saturday 30 August followed by medal and ranking matches for all 32 teams on Sunday 31 August.

Canada Soccer’s Player-Development Program features a network of standards-based programs that represent high-level amateur youth soccer in Canada. Participating organisations, both clubs and academies, all meet the requirements for standards-based programming including recognition as an active National Youth Club Licensee.
