Northwest United/St. Albert Impact win 2024 Alberta Cup women’s title

Northwest United/St. Albert Impact won the 2024 Alberta Cup women’s championship on Sunday after a 2:1 victory over Calgary Blizzard SC. With the win, the St. Albert-based club qualified for Canada Soccer’s Toyota National Championships Jubilee Trophy competition in Surrey, British Columbia.

Sadie Brisbin scored the opener inside five minutes and Calgary’s Ma-Sha Haylin equalised early in the second half. Lauren Granberg then scored the 2-1 winner in the 51st minute.

In the 2024 Alberta Cup Final, Northwest United/St. Albert Impact’s starting lineup featured Carly Uchacz, Anneke Odinga, Kayla Mostowich, Samantha Gouveia, Grace Schimpf, Raeghan McCarthy, Brynn Hobal, Hannah Harper, Sariyah Bailey, Janai Martens, and Sadie Brisbin. Coach Dean Cordeiro then featured Lauren Granberg, Olivia Chu, Amelia Russo and Alyx Henderson as substitutes. Also dressed in the lineup were Samantha Bouchard, Suekiana Choucair, Marlee Portas, Ella Fownes, and Brenna Paquin.

Canada Soccer’s Toyota National Championships are hosted each October across six divisions in three venues: the adult competition for the men’s Challenge Trophy and women’s Jubilee Trophy; the U-17 Cup competition for boys and girls; the U-15 Cup competition for boys and girls.
