CS Trident capture Jubilee Trophy on penalties

CS Trident Ancienne-Lorette won their first national amateur title as they captured the women’s Jubilee Trophy at the 2024 Toyota National Championships. All even 1-1 after 90 minutes, goalkeeper Charline Boutin made two saves and scored the winning kick as CS Trident won 3-1 on penalties over Coquitlam Metro-Ford SC at Newton Athletic Park in Surrey, British Columbia.

Incidentally, it was the second 1:1 draw between the two sides in less than a week after they faced each other in the group phase. Down 0-1 in the Canadian Final, Mélodie Beaulieu scored the equaliser in the 82nd minute after a turnover from captain Marie-Joëlle Landry. Captain Landry was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

In the Canadian Final, CS Trident’s starting lineup featured Charline Boutin (goal), Rosalie Morissette, Alexe Drolet, Dania Viel, Rose Houle, Aurélie Roy, Jade Morissette, Marie-Joëlle Landry, Emy Desharnais, Mélodie Beaulieu, and Anaïs Bujold-Samson. In the second half, coach Jérémy Sylvestre featured Audrey Freniere, Elizabelle Viel, and Alyson Desharnais. From the bench, CS Trident had Charline Massy, Maude Boutin, Mathilde Beaudry, Tiffany Bruyère, Françoise Brousseau-Hardy, and Alicia Richard. Alongside Sylvestre, the team staff were Pierre Behl, Baptiste Frenoy, Karell Savard-Kinuani, and Charlotte Michel.

Canada Soccer’s Toyota National Championships are hosted each October across six divisions in three venues: the men’s Challenge Trophy and women’s Jubilee Trophy (adult competitions) in Surrey, British Columbia; the U-17 Cup in Cape Breton for boys and girls; the U-15 Cup in Quinte West for boys and girls.
