Canada Soccer Legend Dwayne De Rosario to be Honoured at Canada v Panama International in Toronto on 15 October
Following the March 2024 announcement of his enshrinement into the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame, Dwayne De Rosario will be honoured at field level during halftime of CANMNT’s home 15 October Match in Toronto. De Rosario will be presented a Hall of Fame trophy along with a custom Hall of Fame jersey to commemorate a phenomenal career for club and country.
Dwayne De Rosario is a Concacaf champion, a participant in the FIFA Confederations Cup, and a former record holder for international goals with Canada Soccer’s Men’s National Team. At the club level, he won the Canadian Championship twice, the MLS Cup four times, the MLS Supporters’ Shield, and the US Open Cup. Internationally, he represented Canada in five FIFA World Cup Qualifier cycles and five Concacaf Gold Cups, amassing 81 international “A” appearances over 20 years and scoring 22 goals.
A four-time Canada Soccer Player of the Year, De Rosario has also been named MLS Most Valuable Player once, earned MLS Cup MVP honors twice, and received the George Gross Memorial Trophy as the Canadian Championship MVP on two occasions. During his career, he was recognized as team MVP with both the San Jose Earthquakes and Toronto FC. He is a Member of the Order of Ontario and has been honoured by both Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame and the Ontario Sport Legends Hall of Fame.
De Rosario is one of 145 players to be inducted into the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame. His Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place as CANMNT make their long awaited return home, hosting 37th FIFA world rankedPanama.
