Suburban FC wins their fourth Nova Scotia provincial title

Suburban FC won their third-straight Nova Scotia provincial championship on Thursday night as they qualified for the 2024 Toyota National Championships. Charlie Waters and Lewis Dye were the goalscorers as they won 2:1 over challengers Halifax City SC.

It marked the fourth time since 2011 that Suburban FC won the Nova Scotia men’s championship, with previous provincial titles captured in 2011, 2022, 2023 and 2024. Just last year, Suburban FC finished fourth at the Toyota National Championships when they were hosted in Halifax.

In the 2024 provincial final, the Suburban FC starting XI featured Will Veinot in goal, Colby Mercer at right back, Lewis Dye and Jack Ellis at centre back, Cory Bent at left back, Ethan Larsen and Isaac Vanwhychen at centre midfield, Ben Gorringe as an attacking midfielder, Charlie Waters and Will Warren on the wings, and Iain Greedy up front. Alongside the XI, the Suburban FC winning squad featured Freddy Bekkers, Tommy Connel, Blake Fenton, Scott Firth, Ben Herringer, Moe Jaber, Matt Larter, Kalen Park, Cohen Reddickm Carson Ripoll and Alex Taylor. The team staff includes Head Coach Ollie Hewish, assistants Aaron Thibeau, Felix Hoppe and Ioan Florean, and team manager Dave Marsh.

This year, Canada Soccer will welcome a record 105 qualified teams to its national amateur competitions in 2024 across the Futsal Canadian Championship (April), Player-Development Program Championship (August) and Toyota National Championships (October). The 105 qualified teams will come from a group of more than 800 amateur teams competing in men’s and women’s divisions in the adult, U-17 and U-15 categories from September 2023 through October 2024.
