Canada secured their second win at the 2023 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Qualifiers after a 12:0 win against St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The Sunday win featured nine goalscorers, eight of which also scored in the opening match against Martinique.
Substitutes Annabelle Chukwu and Jeneva Hernandez Gray scored a goal within 15 minutes of stepping foot on the pitch in the second half, starters Nyah Rose and Kayla Briggs each scored a goal, while Olivia Smith scored a hat trick after opening the scoresheet with back-to-back penalties and a late goal before halftime. The second half featured two goals each from birthday girl Ella McBride and forward Rosa Maalouf while Jadea Collin added a goal of her own. Goalkeeper Noelle Henning and her backline posted the clean sheet while Jadea Collin was named player of the match.
“We’ve had two games with two different lineups and with these results we’re really pleased with the progress,” said Cindy Tye, Canada Soccer’s Women U-20 Coach. “It’s really about getting them ready for the next steps, we’re pushing them to execute and play very quickly in this short competition. I’m really happy with what I’ve seen this past week as we look towards our match against Cuba.”

Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Youth Teams, meanwhile, have won four Concacaf youth titles: the 2004 and 2008 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship, the 2010 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship, and the 2014 Concacaf Girls’ Under-15 Championship. Canada have qualified for eight editions of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup (including a silver medal at Canada 2002) and all seven editions of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup (including a fourth-place finish at Uruguay 2018).
