Canada arrives in Kansas City

Canada travelled from Tampa, FL to Kansas City, KS on Sunday afternoon ahead of Tuesday’s CONCACAF Gold Cup clash with Panama at Livestrong Sporting Park (local kick-off 18.00).

Canada travelled to Kansas City ahead of the decisive group-stage match without Marcel De Jong who has returned to Germany following a re-aggravation of a previously sustained shoulder injury.



De Jong, who will undergo further assessment and treatment in Europe, joins Dejan Jakovic as the second Canadian defender to depart from Canada’s CONCACAF Gold Cup squad due to injury.



The team took part in a light recovery session ahead of Sunday afternoon’s departure from Florida.



Canada must wait to find out results from final play in Group A and Group B to know exactly what result is required on Tuesday to advance to the knockout stages of the tournament.



The team must finish as one of the top two teams in its group; or as one of the two highest ranking third-place finishers in overall group play.



Canada currently sits in third place in Group C with three points. Panama is currently atop the group with six points, while USA, also with three points, are ranked ahead of Canada in second place by virtue of goal difference. Guadeloupe is presently last in the group with zero points.
