Canada gained 30 points and moved up 4 places on the overall ranking to 83rd. Canada however dropped one spot in the CONCACAF ranking, losing eighth place to El Salvador.

The FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking looks at each country’s international results from the last four years. The ranking takes into account the result, the importance of the match, the strength of the opponent, the regional strength, the time period, and the number of matches per year.
Matches played more than a year ago are valued 50% of matches played in the last year; matches played more than two years ago are valued at 30% while matches played more than three years ago are valued at 20%.
Canada cumulated a win and a draw in CONCACAF Round 2 of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers matches in October. Canada opened with a 7:0 away victory over St. Lucia before following up with a 0:0 home draw over Puerto Rico.

As for the overall world ranking, Spain have been able to slightly increase their lead thanks to a 23rd consecutive home victory. Furthermore, the Netherlands’ pursuers, Germany, Uruguay and Brazil (up 2), have all managed to close the gap, while Greece (8th, up 3) and Denmark (10th, up 7) are back in the top ten after booking their place at UEFA EURO 2012 in the last round of matches. The world’s top-10 now ranks as follows: Spain, Netherlands, Germany, Uruguay, Brazil, Italy, England, Greece, Portugal and Argentina.
