Canada’s Men’s National Team will be hosting Costa Rica for an International Friendly on Tuesday 28 May (kickoff 18.00 local) at Commonwealth Stadium, in Edmonton, AB.
The Canadian Soccer Association announced that the Men’s National Team will be hosting Costa Rica for an International Friendly on Tuesday 28 May (kickoff 18.00 local) at Commonwealth Stadium, in Edmonton, AB. Details of the public ticket on-sale will be released in the coming weeks.
The match will also be broadcast live on all four regional Sportsnet channels.
“We are pleased to bring this match against Costa Rica to the passionate western Canada soccer community,” said Victor Montagliani, President, Canadian Soccer Association. “This match, which will serve as great preparation for the Men’s National Team in the lead up to this summer’s Gold Cup, is the result of the strong relationships the Association has been able to build with other CONCACAF nations.”
Canada will be taking part in the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup from 7-21 July. Canada’s first match is 7 July against Martinique on the competition’s opening night at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA, USA.
For Costa Rica, this match will serve as groundwork before their next round of 2014 FIFA World Cup BrazilTM Qualifiers set to resume on 7 June, when the Costa Ricans host Honduras.
Canada last faced Costa Rica in a 2:2 draw at the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup and has record of 4W-7D-7L in 18 official matches dating back to 1985.
