Women’s Olympic Football Tournament

Canada participated in the fourth edition of the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in China PR in August 2008. Canada reached the Quarterfinals before they were eliminated to the eventual champions USA, falling 1:2 after extra time. Before the knock-out phase, Canada finished third in Group E, posting a 2:1 win over Argentina, a 1:1 draw with hosts China PR, and a 1:2 loss to Sweden. From four matches, Canada’s goals were scored by Christine Sinclair (two), Candace Chapman, Kara Lang, and Melissa Tancredi.
