Desiree Scott invested in the Order of Manitoba

Order of Manitoba

Desiree Scott was formally invested in the Order of Manitoba at a special ceremony at the Manitoba Legislative Building on 22 February 2023. Scott was also presented the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal as she met with the Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, The Honourable Anita R. Neville, as well as the Manitoba Premier, The Honourable Heather Stefanson.

The Order of Manitoba was established in 1999 to honour Manitobans who have demonstrated excellence and achievement, thereby enriching the social, cultural or economic well-being of the province and its residents.  Scott was nominated for the honour of account of her role both on and off the pitch, notably serving as an ambassador for the Homeless World Cup and serving as an athlete ambassador for KidSport.

While Scott was nominated for the honour last year, she was unable to attend the formal investiture ceremony on 14 July 2022 as she was taking part in the Concacaf W Championship, notably helping Canada qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023.

Scott is both an Olympic champion and a Concacaf champion, in fact one of just three Canadians that won three consecutive medals at the Olympic Games from 2012 to 2021. Alongside her international career, she serves as captain with the Kansas City Current and was a NWSL runner up in 2022.
