When I played for Firefighters, that was the first thing they said: if you go in for a tackle, you go in hard”...
said Len Brown in 2018, “playing at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City was probably the highlight of my career (Canada’s first-ever match at the stadium on 8 June 1971)... you would just come out on that field under a moat and then there are the screaming Mexicans are there and your heart is just pounding. You would quite nervous for the first five minutes of the game until people would settle down, but boy I tell you, that was probably the greatest experience of my life”... also said Brown in 2018, “just the awe when you first come out at Azteca Stadium is so overwhelming. They had us sing O Canada to get into it because you can’t just stand there and be nervous because everything can be quite shocking... and they are all against you, nobody is cheering for Canada... so we all sang O Canada as loud as we could and after the first 10 or so minutes in the match we settled down”...
