honoured by the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame (she was in fact the first female coach honoured)... she was just the second female non-player honoured by the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame (one year after referee Sonia Denoncourt was honoured)... honoured by the Québec Soccer Hall of Fame...
served as Canada's Head Coach at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Sweden 1995…
wrote Sylvie Béliveau in 1992, “our Women’s National Team faced the reality of the international competition at an infant stage and in order not to lose face with the opponents, adopted a system promoting a defensive style - conservative and preventive. This choice allowed Canada to remain in good ranks in the different competitions. Slowly over the years, the team built up an attacking system which served efficiently in the Concacaf qualifying tournament”... said Béliveau in 1995, “I feel that it is only if (all of Canada) works together that we will achieve something. Do not ask ‘what will the country do for me,’ but ‘what can I do for my country’”...
