née Michelle Ring... speaks English... soccer family (great-grandfather Stan Wakelyn and great uncles Art and Ed Wakelyn as well as great-great-grandfather William Wakelyn)… her mother Holly was born in Victoria, BC... her father Arleigh was born in Southey, SK (1939-2002)... growing up, her family lived in Calgary, Victoria (from age two), Brampton (from age five), Port Coquitlam (from age nine), and Mount Lehman, BC near Abbotsford (from age 10)... grew up participating in basketball and soccer... both her maternal great-great-grandfather Stan Wakelyn and his brother Ed were Dominion of Canada Football Championship winners with Calgary Hillhurst FC in 1922... she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of British Columbia in 1993... she earned her Canada Soccer Coaching B Diploma in 2008...

honoured by the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2005... honoured by the Soccer Hall of Fame of British Columbia, the University of British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame, and the Abbotsford Sports Hall of Fame... she was part of the first Canadian team to play at the FIFA Women’s World Cup (Sweden 1995), recognised as a Canada Soccer Team of Distinction... her great-great-grandfather Stan Wakelyn is an honoured member of the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame as well as the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame...

represented Canada at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Sweden 1995... won two Concacaf medals with Canada (1993 bronze and 1994 silver)... represented Canada at the World Invitational Women’s Tournament (Chinese Cup 1987) and International Women’s Football Tournament (China 1988)... one of six original members of Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team in 1986 that also participated in Canada’s first FIFA Women’s World Cup in 1995 (Annie Caron, Carla Chin, Geri Donnelly, Charmaine Hooper, Michelle Ring and Cathy Ross)... career 45 international “A” appearances across 10 years from 1986 to 1995 with Canada Soccer's Women's National Team, which ranked second all-time when she left international football in 1995...

club career in Canada... with Surrey Marlins SC, a three-time Canada Soccer National Championships winner (Jubilee Trophy in 1991, 1992, 1993)... with the University of British Columbia, a CIAU Championship winner (Gladys Bean Trophy in 1987)...
