For the first time, the Canadian Championship featured five teams across three rounds with the introduction of Ottawa Fury FC in the preliminary round. Ultimately, it was coach Frank Klopas who led the Impact de Montréal to their second-straight Canadian title. Montréal posted two wins, one draw, and one loss in four matches. After beating FC Edmonton 5-2 in the semi-finals, they knocked off Toronto FC 2-1 in the Canadian final.
