FIFA Women’s World Cup Sweden 1995

Canada participated in the second edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Sweden in June 1995, posting one draw and two losses in group play. After a narrow 2:3 loss to England, Canada drew 3:3 with Nigeria before losing 0:7 to eventual champion Norway in the group finale. Canada’s final rank was 10th place out of 12 teams (Canada finished third in Group B). Canada’s five goals were scored by Helen Stoumbos, Geraldine Donnelly (two), and Silvana Burtini (two). This marked Canada’s first participation in the FIFA Women’ World Cup, having qualified through CONCACAF / FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in Montréal in August 1994.
