Women’s Olympic Football Tournament

Canada won a bronze medal at the London 2012 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament, the nation’s first medal in a summer team sport since 1936. Canada finished the tournament with three wins, one draw and two losses. Christine Sinclair was the tournament’s top goal scorer (six) while Diana Matheson scored the memorable medal-winning goal just 10 seconds before the final whistle. Sinclair was also honoured a few days later as Canada’s flag bearer for the Closing Ceremonies in London.
