This nine-day camp started in Toronto and continued in San José for a pair of Men’s U-20 International Friendly matches against Costa Rica. The 2016 camp and matches were originally scheduled for May, but were postponed after a volcano eruption forced flight restrictions to Costa Rica. The camp allowed staff to assess players in a CONCACAF environment well ahead of next year’s CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship in Costa Rica. Canada U-20 coach Rob Gale featured all 20 players in the two matches, a 1:2 loss on 1 September and an 0:2 loss on 3 September with the hosts always scoring in the second half. Of note, four players made their international youth debuts for Canada: Zachary Brault-Guillard, Matt Constant, Liam Fraser, and Kris Twardek.
