Canada won their opening match 2:0 over Australia at the Rio 2016 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament. Canada scored in the first minute, were reduced to 10 players in the 19th minute, then added an insurance goal in the 80th minute. Janine Beckie scored the first goal after just 21 seconds, the fastest in tournament history. After a Beckie penalty was saved by Lydia Williams, Christine Sinclair scored the second goal.
