In the last international window before the CONCACAF semi-final round of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Qualifiers, Canada’s head coach Benito Floro called in 10 new players: five debutants (Fraser Aird, Marco Bustos, Junior Hoilett, Wandrille Lefèvre, Charlie Trafford) and five players getting their first call up in 2015 (Manuel Aparicio, Lucas Cavallini, Jordan Hamilton, Kianz Froese, Simon Thomas). Of note, head coach Benito Floro was in camp for just two days as he was concurrently in charge of Canada’s Olympic squad. As such, assistant Michael Findlay was the head coach on record for the 13 October match in Washington.
