Lenarduzzi and Wilson To Be Inducted Into U.S. National Soccer Hall of Fame

Ottawa, Ontario – Former Canadian Nationals Bob Lenarduzzi and Bruce Wilson will be inducted into the U.S. National Soccer Hall of fame this weekend in Oneonta, New York.

Lenarduzzi was a defender-midfielder who played more games in the North American Soccer League than any other man, 312, including 288 in the regular season and 24 in the playoffs. In the course of this achievement, playing in a league dominated by United States-based teams, he probably had more influence on American soccer than any other player ever who wasn’t an American citizen and never played for an American club.

McLeod’s World Cup Experience

I was asked to do a summary of the 2003 USA Women’s World Cup in about three paragraphs. I accepted the offer because I feel so proud and honoured that I was even a part of the Canadian National team, but now I have realized how difficult this experience is to put into words.

Our first game was against Germany, the World Champions. Going into this game we knew they were ranked about number one in the world, no pressure right? We ended up losing 4-1 but no one on the team thought we played anywhere near our potential.

Notre premier match était contre l’Allemagne.

This was Canada’s best showing at the Women’s World Cup. In the prior two appearances in the World Cup Canada had not won a game forcing them out after the first round.
