Olympic Trials in Ottawa – Canadian Deaf Olympic Men’s Soccer Program

The Canadian Deaf Olympic Soccer Team is looking for players who are deaf, deafened and hard of hearing to try out in Ottawa this coming June.
On June 16th we will be having our first ever training camp for those who have been invited from all over Canada to play in the Taipei, Taiwan Deaf Olympics in 2009. The training camp will be held at the campus of Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario.

Pellerud Announces Training Squad for Nanaimo

Ottawa, Ontario – Canada’s Women’s National Team Head Coach, Even Pellerud, has selected his 19 woman roster for Canada’s upcoming training camp in Nanaimo, BC from June 10-17, 2006.



Pellerud has called upon a familiar group for this camp as the players listed cumulatively account for 886 caps, 206 goals, and 27 shutouts for Canada.



Canada’s next friendly takes place against Italians at Centennial Stadium in Toronto on June 25th. Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 6:00 pm ET. [ Tickets ]

Pellerud dévoile les noms des joueuses qui participeront au prochain camp d’entraînement

Ottawa, Ontario – L’entraîneur-chef de l’équipe nationale féminine senior, Even Pellerud, a sélectionné un groupe de 19 joueuses pour participer au prochain camp d’entraînement, qui aura lieu à Nanaimo, en Colombie-Britannique, du 10 au 17 juin 2006.



Pellerud a fait appel à un groupe de joueuses qu’il connaît déjà bien. Ensemble, les joueuses sélectionnées ont disputé 886 matchs en équipe senior, ayant marqué 206 buts et enregistré 27 jeux blancs.



Le prochain match amical de l’équipe aura lieu le 25 juin, au stade Centennial de Toronto, face à l’Italie. Le coup d’envoi du match est prévu pour 18 h (Heure de l’Est). [Billets]

Yallop Leaves for MLS’ LA Galaxy

Ottawa, Ontario – Canada’s Men’s National Team head coach, Frank Yallop, has decided to leave his current position for the vacant LA Galaxy head coaching position and will begin work with his new club immediately.



The MLS job was made vacant yesterday following the firing of head coach Steve Sampson, whose tenure as the Galaxy boss lasted nearly two years. Sampson, who had brought the ‘double’ to LA in 2005 after winning both the MLS Cup and US Open Cup in that year, was mired in the longest losing streak (6) in club history and found his Galaxy languishing at the bottom of the league table.

Canadian Soccer Association & SOS Children’s Villages Kick-in for Orphans

Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) and SOS Children’s Villages Canada announced today at a joint press conference in Toronto that they have raised over $100,000 (all funds listed in Canadian dollars) to fund the construction and maintenance of a “Canada Soccer House” in the new SOS Village in Rustenburg, South Africa.
The CSA and FIFA have also named SOS Children’s Villages Canada as the Official Charity for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007. Next summer, Canada will host the World’s finest youth players in six cities across the country – Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Edmonton, Burnaby, and Victoria – with the tentative dates for the tournament set for June 30-July 22, 2007.

Tickets for Canada v Italy Game Now on Sale

Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) is pleased to announce that tickets for the game featuring Canada’s Women’s National Team and Italy’s Women’s National Team are now on sale.



Canada will host the Italians at Centennial Stadium in Toronto on June 25th. Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 6:00 pm ET.



All tickets for the June 25th match will be General Admission and will be $15.00 for end zone seating, $20.00 for east seating, and $25.00 for grandstand seating and can be purchased through the following locations in the Southern Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area (please call for further details) –

Colin Linford Elected CSA President

Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) is pleased to announce that Colin Linford has been elected to a four-year term as the new President of the Canadian Soccer Association during this past weekend’s CSA annual general meeting held in Niagara Falls, ON. The meeting also saw the election of a new Vice President, two new Directors-at-Large positions, and two long-serving CSA employees receiving their just award.
Since 2002, Linford has been the President of the Ontario Soccer Association and has been intrinsically involved at the Board/Executive level in Ontario since 1990. Linford’s involvement with the game in the Kitchener-Waterloo, ON area spans three decades.

Men’s National Team off to Florida for Mini-Camp

Ottawa, Ontario – Canadian head coach Frank Yallop has announced a squad of 16 players for a mini-camp in Sunrise, Florida. The camp is scheduled to take place from May 1-8, 2006 and will feature many of those players that played at the FIFA World Youth Championship Holland 2005 and as a result, are eligible for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.



Yallop has also included a handful of players that have been out of the squad for the last while, or are making their first appearance with the senior team.



Dave Simpson, who has made several appearances with youth teams in the past, will be making his first appearance with Yallop’s squad. The 23-year-old Toronto-native is enjoying a good season with Hungarian club Papa Lombard FC and will certainly hope to make a lasting first impression on the Canadian head coach.
