Canada draws interest in Yongchuan

Canada’s women’s national team continued its training today in the Yongchuan District of Chongqing, China PR. The team held a two-hour training session in the rain this morning with onlookers from the Maple Leaf International School watching from the sidelines. The Maple Leaf Inernational School, certified by British Columbia’s Ministry of Eductation, features Canadian teachers.

L’équipe nationale féminine du Canada a continué son entraînement aujourd’hui dans la région d’Yongchuan Chongqing dans la République populaire de Chine. L’équipe a tenu une séance de formation de deux heures dans la pluie ce matin avec des spectateurs de l’École internationale Maple Leaf Feuille qui observaient la séance à partir des lignes de touche. L’École internationale Maple Leaf, certifiée par le Ministère d’Éducation de la Colombie-Britannique, est une organisation d’enseignants canadiens.


Rogers Sportsnet announces Championship broadcast schedule

The Canadian Soccer Association and Rogers Sportsnet have announced the broadcast schedule for the 2010 Nutrilite Canadian Championship. All six matches featuring Impact Montréal, Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC will be broadcast on Rogers Sportsnet over six consecutive Wednesday nights from 28 April to 2 June.

Canada gets first look at opponent

Canada’s women’s national team got a first look at its Saturday opponent today when both Canada and China PR shared a training session at the Olympic Sports Center. The two sides meet this Saturday 24 April at 19.35 (local time) in Yongchuan District, China PR.



“They have some very fast and very good technical players,” said Canadian national head coach Carolina Morace.

L’équipe nationale féminine du Canada a eu son premier coup d’oeil sur son adversaire de samedi lorsque la République populaire de Chine et le Canada ont partagé le terrain de jeu du Centre sportif olympique à l’occasion de leurs séances d’entraînement respectives aujourd’hui. Les deux formations ont rendez-vous le samedi 24 avril à 19.35 (à l’heure locale) dans la région de Yongchuan de la République populaire de Chine.



« Elles ont quelques joueuses techniques douées et très rapides, » a confirmé l’entraîneure-chef nationale canadienne Carolina Morace.

Canada trains in Chongqing

Canada’s women’s national team is training in Chongqing, China in advance of its 24 April 2010 international friendly against China. Today was the team’s third day of training, with a few additional players arriving after their weekend club matches or their delayed flights.

Canada announces venues for 2010 men’s home matches

Canada’s men’s national team announced today the two venues at which it will play its home international friendly matches this 2010 season. Canada will play at BMO Field in Toronto on Saturday 4 September and Stade Saputo in Montréal on Tuesday 7 September. The announcement was part of a bigger press conference at which Canada outlined its plans for the men’s national team in 2010 including the confirmation of five international matches for its upcoming season.

Soccer interest continues to grow

Interest in the beautiful game continues to grow in Canada at both the national and international levels. Such interest has been noted in the ticket sales for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™. With just eight weeks to go before the opening match, 16,000 tickets have been sold to Canadians who will travel more than 11,000 kilometres to attend this year’s competition. That is the highest total amongst all non-participating members for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™.
