The Canadian Soccer Association recognised its award winners at its evening banquet in Winnipeg, MB today. The banquet was presented in conjunction with the Canadian Soccer Association’s Annual General Meeting, hosted this year by the Manitoba Soccer Association. The banquet celebrated 2010 recipients for the Canadian Soccer Association’s Aubrey Sanford Meritorious Service Award, Ray Morgan Memorial Award, and Award of Merit.
The Canadian Soccer Association membership passed a new governance framework today at its Annual General Meeting in Winnipeg. The annual meeting brings together the Association’s membership, featuring delegates from all 12 provincial and territory members, together with the professional clubs, leagues and athlete representation.
A pair of Toronto FC players have been called to national duty by Canadian men’s national head coach Stephen Hart. Dwayne De Rosario and Julian de Guzman – both key players in Toronto FC’s hopes to repeat as national champions in the Nutrilite Canadian Championsip – will take part in the 24 May international match against Argentina in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The Canadian Soccer Association has announced that both away international matches against Argentina and Venezuela will be broadcast on Rogers Sportsnet. The 24 May match from Buenos Aires, Argentina will be broadcast live on all four Rogers Sportsnet channels at 15:30 ET / 12:30 PT. Rogers Sportsnet will also be broadcasting the 29 May match from Merida, Venezuela, with the schedule to be announced in the coming weeks.
Canada’s men’s national team has announced its rosters for the upcoming camp and matches in South America this 17-29 May. Coach Stephen Hart has selected 24 players, 19 of whom will take part in the 24 May match against Argentina and 16 of whom will take part in the 29 May match against Venezuela.

In this year’s second battle of champions, Toronto FC has eliminated Impact Montréal from the 2010 Nutrilite Canadian Championship. Toronto FC won 1:0 on Dwayne De Rosario’s first goal of the 2010 championship in the 73rd minute. The Impact needed a draw or win to stay alive in the standings, but will now be unable to catch first place in the six-week series.
