The Canadian Soccer Association announced today the list of nominees for its 2010 player awards. Canadian media and coaches will be asked to select two players – one male and one female – for the Canadian Soccer Association’s top prize, the Canadian Players of the Year award. The award will celebrate Canada’s top-two soccer players in recognition of their 2010 achievements with both the national team and their respective club teams.
Canada has been drawn into Group A of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011™ with France, Nigeria and host Germany. Canada will in fact face the host Germany in the opening match of the tournament on 26 June 2011. Canada then faces France on 30 June and Nigeria on 5 July.

Ali Gerba has been named professional soccer player of the year by the Fédération de soccer du Québec. Gerba won the award on Saturday night for the third-straight year, picking up the top professional honour at Soccer Québec’s annual awards gala.
The Newfoundland Labrador Soccer Association has announced its 2010 award winners. The award winners were celebrated at the annual general meeting at the Battery Hotel in St. John’s, NL. The two big award winners were 2010 Senior Players of the Year Tyler Putt and Mallorie Harris.
The Prince Edward Island Soccer Association announced its 2010 award winners at its annual awards banquet. Jonathan Vos and Tessa Roche were the big winners as the male and female Senior Players of the Year.

Canada has announced its roster for the upcoming Torneio Internacional Cidade de São Paulo. Canada will play four matches from 9-19 December in São Paulo, Brazil. The four-match set will close out Canada’s 2010 season.
Canada will learn its group opponents for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011 this Monday 29 November 2010. All 16 teams will be split into four groups at the Official Draw for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011™ taking place at the Frankfurt Congress Centre of Germany this Monday. The Official Draw will be broadcast live in Canada via FIFA.com.
