Canada will open its 2011 schedule against host China PR at the Four Nations Women’s Tournament in the Yongchuan District of Chongqing, China. Canada, China PR, USA and Sweden are all taking part in the tournament, with six total matches (three per club) to be played from 21-25 January.

Coach Carolina Morace has called 24 players to the team that will train and compete in Chongqing, China from 13-26 January. The four-team tournament features top-10 nations Canada, Sweden and USA as well as host China PR.

Canada’s points and ranking on the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking remained unchanged on the first chart of the 2011 season. Canada remains eighth in CONCACAF with 411 points, this after not playing in the month of December or early January. There was very little movement on the overall ranking during this period.
The venue, stadium and kickoff time for Canada’s upcoming Men’s International Friendly match against Greece has been announced. The two nations will meet this 9 February 2011 in Larissa, Greece at the A.E.L FC Arena. The match kicks off at 17.00.
If there was a moment in 2010 that showed everything was better than alright for Canada’s women’s national team, it was a simple ball chase that captain Christine Sinclair ran in the early moments of the Canada-Mexico group match at the 2010 CONCACAF Women’s World Cup Qualifier. Sinclair had no chance of reaching the ball, but she finished her charge on Cecilia Santiago right up until the ball was secured in the hands of the Mexican goalkeeper.

Canadian captain Paul Stalteri set the national record for appearances in 2010, taking part in his 83rd match for his home country on 7 September in Montréal, QC. Stalteri surpassed the record previously held by Randy Samuel, who made 82 appearances for Canada from 1982 to 2007.
