Death by group knocks Canada out at Germany 2011

Canada could not find that magic touch as it failed to pick up a point for the second match in a row at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011. Canada’s 0:4 loss to France combined with Germany’s 1:0 win over Nigeria officially eliminated Canada from tournament in the group phase.

Canada prepares for rendezvous with France

Canada will face France in its second group match at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011 this 30 June. The match kicks off at 18.00 at Stadion Bochum in Bochum, Germany, the first of two Group A matches to be played on Thursday. Germany will square off with Nigeria in the other group match of the day.

June: Canada falls to eighth in CONCACAF

After a sudden exit from the CONCACAF Gold Cup, Canada has fallen to eighth place amongst CONCACAF teams on the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking. Combined with the devaluation of past results, Canada lost 52 points on the monthly ranking and now sits 83rd overall on the global ranking released on 29 June.

Sinclair not yet cleared for 30 June

Canadian captain Christine Sinclair has been fitted with a specialized protective mask, although it has not yet been established whether or not she will get to wear it for the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup match on 30 June. National head coach Carolina Morace confirmed today that Sinclair has not yet received medical clearance from doctors to play in the all-important Canada-France match.
