Centreback Buchanan of Mississauga (who also played for Toronto Lady Lynx in 2013) finished first in voting ahead of Ashley Lawrence (Toronto Lady Lynx & West Virginia University / Calendon East, ON) and Kailen Sheridan (Toronto Lady Lynx & Clemson University / Whitby, ON).
Goalkeeper Carducci of Calgary finished first in voting ahead of Hanson Boakai (FC Edmonton / Edmonton, AB) and Jordan Hamilton (Toronto FC Academy / Scarborough, ON). Fullback Yekka of Mississauga, meanwhile, finished first in voting ahead of Jessie Fleming (London NorWest SC / London, ON) and Rachel Jones (Vancouver Whitecaps Girls Elite / North Vancouver, BC).
The Para Soccer fullback from Victoria, BC is in his third year with the Canadian Para Soccer program. He played in 10 international matches in 2013, helping Canada post a record of four wins, two draws and four losses.
This seventh edition of the championship will see Ottawa Fury FC, Canada’s newest NASL club, and FC Edmonton, play a preliminary knock-out home and away round. Canadian Assistant Referee Joe Fletcher has been selected to officiate at the FIFA Club World Cup Morocco 2013.
