Womens World Cup Team Travels to Europe

Ottawa, Ontario – Canada’s Women’s World Cup Team head coach Even Pellerud today released the names of 19 players selected for a 15-day training camp in Europe from June 5-20, 2001. During the camp, Canada will play four international friendlies against Sweden, Germany and Norway.

Ottawa, Ontario – Canada’s Women’s World Cup Team head coach Even Pellerud today released the names of 19 players selected for a 15-day training camp in Europe from June 5-20, 2001. During the camp, Canada will play four international friendlies against Sweden, Germany and Norway. The squad begins its camp in Sweden where they will train for six days before traveling to Germany where they will train for seven days. Canada finishes the camp in Norway, home of head coach Even Pellerud.
Returning to the roster are Canadian players from the WUSA league. Amy Walsh, Charmaine Hooper, Sharolta Nonen, Karina LeBlanc and Silvana Burtini have all been released from their clubs in order to join the team in Germany. New to the roster is Under-20 team regular Wanda Rozwadowska. Rozwadowska replaces Marie-Claude Dion who suffered an injury during the Alliston training camp.
