Women’s U-17 National Team Roster Announced for February Camp in Spain

24 players called up as CANW17 opens 2026 with international preparation camp

Canada Soccer’s Women’s Under-17 National Team (CANW17) has unveiled its roster for a February preparation camp in Spain, kicking off the 2026 calendar year as the program builds toward the Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship Qualifiers in March. These qualifiers will determine Canada’s place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2026™, which is now held every year and will take place in October and November.

The 24-player group includes 22 selected players and two training players, representing a new cycle for the Women’s U-17 program. All players were born on or after 1 January 2009, with the majority entering the U-17 age group for the first time. Four players, Mélyna Alexis, Gabriela Istocki, Lacey Kindel, and Reed Tingley, return from the squad that competed at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025™, providing continuity while the rest of the roster highlights emerging talent from professional academies, elite youth environments, and Canada Soccer’s National Development Centre network.

The team will be based in Salou, Spain, from 2 to 14 February and will play three international matches at Futbol Salou Stadium. Canada will face Andorra on 7 February at 4:00 p.m. local time (10:00 a.m. ET / 7:00 a.m. PT), followed by Finland on 10 February at 4:00 p.m. local time (10:00 a.m. ET / 7:00 a.m. PT), and will conclude with a second match against Finland on 13 February at 11:00 a.m. local time (5:00 a.m. ET / 2:00 a.m. PT).

Jesse Acteson will lead the team on an interim basis during this camp, stepping in while Head Coach and Women’s Youth Excel Program Lead Jen Herst recovers from a medical procedure. Acteson was part of Canada’s technical staff during the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025™ and most recently led the Women’s U-16 National Team during its December identification camp.

“This camp gives us the opportunity to integrate both returning players and new talent while continuing to shape the team’s identity and set standards for the cycle. With Concacaf qualifiers just around the corner in March, every session and match matters. We look forward to working with the players, seeing how they respond in an international setting and take meaningful steps toward representing Canada on the world stage.”
