Canada wins 1:0 over Mexico in an Olympic Qualification match at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria, BC. Craig Martin scores the lone goal of the match. Coach Tony Waiters gets his first win in Canadian colours (after three losses at the international “A” level, he gets his first win in an Olympic international “B” match).

Canada falls 2:3 to Morocco in a Men’s International Friendly match in Rabat. Colin Miller scores his first goal for Canada on a free kick.

THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 25 October 1980
Canada picks up another point with a 0:0 away draw against USA in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. Goalkeeper Tino Lettieri posts the clean sheet.

THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 25 October 1992
For the second week in a row, Canada scores a late equaliser in a 1:1 away draw in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. This time, Colin Miller brings Canada level in the 86th minute at Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador, El Salvador.

Canada wins 2:1 in the semi-final stage of the XVI Pan American Games Guadalajara 2011 Women’s Football Tournament. Robyn Gayle scores the winning goal – her first international goal – in the 88th minute. Gayle also becomes the 24th player to make her 50th appearance for Canada.

Canada holds Mexico goal-less in Mexico in a FIFA World Cup Qualifiers match for the first time. Canada posts an important 0:0 draw that forces a one-match playoff with USA (which Canada wins in December). Tony Chursky posts the clean sheet. Wes McLeod makes his debut for Canada.

Canada wins a gold medal at the XVI Pan American Games Guadalajara 2011 Women’s Football Tournament. Canada wins 4-3 on kicks from the penalty mark following a 1:1 draw with Brazil.

Canada draws 1:1 with Hungary’s U-23 team in an away Men’s International Friendly match in Budapest. Goalkeeper Jack Brand makes his debut for Canada.

Canada wins 3:2 over Italy at the 2006 Peace Queen Women’s Cup in Seoul, Korea Republic. Randee Hermus becomes the seventh player to make her 75th appearance for Canada. Diana Matheson becomes the 14th player to make her 50th appearance for Canada.

THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 28 October 2008
Canada wins 1:0 over host New Zealand in the opening match of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup New Zealand 2008. Rachel Lamarre scores the lone goal of the match in front of 13,123 fans at North Harbour Stadium in Auckland.
