Osieck Announces Estonia Roster

Ottawa, Ontario – Canadian Men’s World Cup Team Head Coach Holger Osieck today released the roster for the international friendly against Estonia in Tallinn on Saturday, March 29, 2003. The game will be played at 2:00 p.m. local time at the National Stadium (7:00 a.m. ET).



Osieck has named goalkeepers Kenny Stamatopoulos and Pat Onstad to the squad. Stamatopoulos, who has become a regular for Kalamata in the Greek Second Division, earns his first call up since the 2002 Gold Cup while Onstad will join the club from San Jose after signing with the MLS Earthquakes last week. Canadian international goalkeeper Lars Hirschfeld suffered a hamstring injury Wednesday night in Luton Town’s 0-0 draw with Oldham. Hirschfeld is to receive an MRI today to discover the extent of the injury.

Defender Mark Rogers earns his first call up since the 2002 Gold Cup. The Vancouver native scored in Wycombe’s 2-1 win over Peterborough in the English Second Division Tuesday. Striker Carlo Corazzin returns for the first time since the Malta game in November 2001. Corazzin missed the 2002 Gold Cup with a knee injury.



Twelve of the 16 players named to the roster played in Canada’s 4-2 win over Libya on February 12. Striker Tomasz Radzinski missed the Libya game with a back injury but is now fit.
