Coach Carmelina Moscato leads Tigres UANL to Liga MX championship

Led by first-year Head Coach Carmelina Moscato from Mississauga, Ontario, Tigres UANL won the 2022 Liga MX Grand Final at the Estadio Universitario in San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León, Mexico. Tigres UANL captured the playoff championship on Monday 14 November after a two-leg final against Club América.

Tigres UANL won the first leg away 1:0 on Friday at Estadio Azteca and then captured the title with a 2:0 home win on Monday at the Estadio Universitario. Lizbeth Ovalle scored away in the first leg and then scored again at home in the second leg before Belén Cruz scored the third goal of the series. With the 3-0 win on aggregate, Tigres UANL captured their fifth title.

After finishing third in the league standings with 12 wins, two draws and three losses (Apertura from July to October 2022), Tigres UANL eliminated sixth-place Toluca in the quarterfinals, second-place Monterrey in the semifinals, and fourth-place Club América in the Grand Final.

Since taking over the Tigres UANL coaching position, Moscato has a record of 17 wins, three draws and three losses in just 23 matches across both the league and playoffs.
