Canada trained Wednesday at BMO Field

“A game at home against arguably the best team in the group is extremely important.”

Canada trained at BMO Field in downtown Toronto on Wednesday 5 September 2012, the site for this Friday night’s FIFA World Cup Qualifiers match against group opponent Panama. Coach Stephen Hart and his staff trained the Canadian squad for just over 90 minutes, with local and international media in attendance before the Friday 7 September match.

“You have four games (remaining) and you have to look at it that way, but a game at home against arguably the best team in the group is extremely important,” said Canadian head coach Stephen Hart.

The Friday night match is Match Day 3 in the 2012 CONCACAF 3rd Round for 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Qualifiers. With six matches to be played between June and October, Canada needs to finish amongst the top-two teams in its group to advance to the CONCACAF Final Round in 2013. Panama is the group leader with six points after just two matches, followed by Canada with four points, Honduras with one point and Cuba with no points.
