Canada To Play Switzerland In Friendly

Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Soccer Association today announced its Men’s World Cup Team will play Switzerland in a full international friendly on May 15, 2002 in Switzerland. The site of the game will be announced in the near future.

Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Soccer Association today announced its Men’s World Cup Team will play Switzerland in a full international friendly on May 15, 2002 in Switzerland. The site of the game will be announced in the near future.



The game in May will mark the first time the two countries have faced each other at the senior national level. Switzerland finished fourth in Group 1 in World Cup Qualifying, behind Russia, Slovenia and Yugoslavia. Their final qualifying game was on October 6, 2001 when they lost 4-0 to group winners Russia. Switzerland will face Sweden on March 27 prior to facing Canada.
