Canada to face Bermuda in March

OTTAWA (ONTARIO) – Canada’s men’s national team will be off to Bermuda next month for a one-week camp and international friendly against the host national team. The camp ends with the international friendly on 25 March, Canada’s first of the 2007 season.



Canada’s senior team has faced Bermuda seven times including their first World Cup Qualifying encounter on 6 October 1968 in Toronto (4:0 win). Canada and Bermuda last faced off against each other on 11 January 2000 in Hamilton, Bermuda (Canada 2:0 win on two Martin Nash goals). Canada has three wins and four draws in seven matches against Bermuda.

In the February 2007 FIFA world rankings, Canada’s men’s team was the ninth-ranked country in the CONCACAF confederation. While México and the United States were 1-2, Cuba, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Honduras, Trindad & Tobago and Panamá filled in the six places ahead of Canada. Canada’s next big tournament is the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup this June.
