As part of its expanded coach education offerings and focus, Canada Soccer has named Canada Soccer A Licence holder, and Master Learning Facilitator Jim Loughlin as a Master Coach Developer.

“Jim Loughlin brings a wealth of education, experience, and knowledge from a career in soccer that will be vital to the future coaches who enter our coach education system,” said Canada Soccer Director, Development, Jason de Vos. “Jim’s education background gives us a tremendous liaison for the research partnerships we have developed with top University and College programs in child and athlete development and will be responsible to ensure that we’re bringing proven research into our coach and player development system.”

A former Canadian youth international, Loughlin joins Canada Soccer from Alberta Soccer where he has been involved in player development and coach education for more than 20 years, most recently as Technical Director.

Loughlin has completed coursework for the Ed.D in Adult Learning at the University of Calgary and also holds an M.A. in Physical Education and Sports Studies from the University of Alberta. He was previously named the CCAA National Women’s Soccer Coach of the Year (2014).
