Canada Soccer celebrates National Officials Day with essay contest

Canada Soccer is inviting all registered referees to participate in an essay contest in recognition of the inaugural National Officials Day.

17 April marks the inaugural launch of National Officials Day, an initiative started by Sports Officials Canada to increase the awareness of officiating in sport and promote respect of officials. To celebrate this important date, the Canada Soccer is inviting all registered referees to participate in an essay contest.

The theme of the contest is What Motivates Me to Officiate, outlining the reasons why you became a referee and what motivates you to continue refereeing. Two winners will be selected from all entries.

How to enter: Submit your essay via email to Jules Alie by 30 April 2013 and be sure to include your name, age, referee class, Provincial Association and District.

Length: 750 to 1000 words.

Prize: Winners will receive an Umbro Referee Prize Pack, valued at $400.
