Canada Soccer announces C Licence program for League1 Ontario Women’s players

40 current L1O Women’s Players will be eligible for female-led course

Canada Soccer has announced that 40 League1 Ontario Women’s players will be trained in a unique female-led Canada Soccer C Licence course. Four female Canada Soccer Coach Developers will be assigned to provide the 40 players with their first coaching qualification. Each player will conduct the training online-only, in respect of COVID-19 restrictions, along with Respect in Sport – Activity Leader, Make Ethical Decisions, and Making Headway modules to meet the Soccer Safe Sport requirements for the Canada Soccer Coach Education Licence Program.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to provide these young female players and leaders with their first Canada Soccer Coach Educations Program training to support the continued efforts that we have been making to encourage more females in coaching roles in the game,” said Jason deVos, Canada Soccer’s Director of Development. “Developing the future female leaders of the game in our own backyard is a vital step toward continuing Canada Soccer’s legacy at the leading edge of women’s football that stretches all the way back to formation of the Women’s National Team program in 1986.”

The Canada Soccer C Licence is the first step on the Coach Education Licence Program pathway and prepares the coach to progress to the Development Stream (Children), Development Stream (Youth) or Performance Stream (Senior). The C Licence involves the facilitation of learning opportunities for the coach to develop an understanding of the coaching process.

Canada Soccer Coach Education Licence Program licences have a three-year validity. For more information on Canada Soccer’s Coach Education Program visit:
