Canada adds Attakora to lineup

Canada’s national team has announced the addition of Nana Attakora to the team’s 18-player roster for the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifiers™ in St. Kitts and Nevis and Canada. Attakora will join the national team in Sunrise, FL this week before the team’s departure for Basseterre this Wednesday 9 November.



Attakora replaces would-be first-time call-up Matt Stinson, who is unavailable because of injury. Attakora, 22, played his professional football this past season with the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer. This marks Attakora’s first call-up to the national team this season.



Canada plays this Friday 11 November in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis. It will be the first of a home-and-away match up that concludes Tuesday 15 November at BMO Field in Toronto. Canada needs but a single point from its final two matches in CONCACAF Round 2 of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Qualifiers™. St. Kitts and Nevis needs back-to-back victories, as both St. Lucia and Puerto Rico have already been eliminated. Six matches in CONCACAF Round 3 (against Honduras, Cuba and Panama) await the group winner.
