A nation celebrates as Canada rises to the podium at Rio 2016

Back-to-back Olympic bronze medals

A proud nation is celebrating Canada’s second-straight bronze medal at the Olympic Games – a first for Team Canada in more than 100 years of team sport at the Summer Olympic Games. Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team captured the Rio 2016 bronze medal after an inspiring 2:1 win over hosts Brazil, with the winning goal scored by none other than team captain Christine Sinclair.

Thank you messages have poured in from coast to coast to coast across the nation, from #CanadaRED fans to Canada Soccer alumni to professional clubs to athletes and celebrities and all the way up to the Governor General and Prime Minister of Canada.
