Douglas Alexander McMahon... soccer family (father referee Sandy)... his father was born in Scotland... served in World War II for the Royal Canadian Navy (19 June 1941 to 31 August 1945)... a one-time Dominion national champion (1948)... he was 79 years old when he passed away on 16 April 1997... as noted in 1946 by the Montréal Gazette, he was a “fleet footed” forward... in 1950, he was one of 16 footballers shortlisted in a Best in 50 Years poll by The Canadian Press... in 2012, he was honoured by The Soccer Hall of Fame as one of “Canada Soccer’s Best XI in 50 Years: 1912-1962”...
