Canada eliminated in Puerto Vallerta
Canada's Beach Soccer team was eliminated Thursday from the 2009 CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship in Puerto Vallerta, Mexico. Canada showed a valiant effort, but ultimately lost 6:8 to group opponent El Salvador. Canada will finish last in its three-team group.
Canada needed a victory to stay alive in the competition after losing its opening match 0:10 to host and tournament favourite Mexico. El Salvador will face Mexico in the final match of the group phase on Friday. Down 0-4, Canada fought back three times to get within a goal of El Salvador. Kyle Yamada got the ball rolling with Canada's first two goals and finished the night with four goals scored. Chris Lemire and Paul Dhaliwal scored Canada's two other goals in the contest. |
