State Farm® Neighbourhood Soccer Volunteer Contest Winners Announced
Posted on 9 October 2012 in Sponsors & Partnerships

The Canadian Soccer Association and State Farm® are proud to announce the three regional finalists and the Grand Prize winner in the State Farm® Neighbourhood Soccer Volunteer contest.
The State Farm® Neighbourhood Soccer Volunteer Contest is in its second year and was initiated as an opportunity to recognize the dedicated volunteers in local communities who support the sport of Soccer. Residents in Alberta, New Brunswick and Ontario were invited to nominate themselves or a soccer volunteer who was making a positive impact in the community. The contest ran from June 22nd, 2012 through to August 31st, 2012 and nominations came in for volunteers in all roles from youth team coaches, to referees, to club presidents. The entrants were evaluated on volunteer’s community impact, entry submission, volunteer time contributed and tenure with Club. Three regional finalists were selected through this process, and from this group of three finalists one national winner was ultimately chosen.
The 2012 State Farm® Neighbourhood Soccer Volunteer Contest regional finalists are:
NEW BRUNSWICK – Chris Hodd
Chris is the volunteer President of the Oromocto Area Soccer Association and has been a volunteer for over seven years. He always has time to answer each and every question that comes his way. He goes above and beyond what is expected of him and always goes that extra mile to make sure all the kids on the pitch are having fun and learning the beautiful game. He strives to make the sport of soccer accessible to everyone in the community.
ONTARIO – Volker Lange
Volker is currently a volunteer coach at the Wilmot District Soccer Club. He dedicates much of his time and energy to mentoring and developing others. Volker is someone who genuinely inspires his players and never misses a practice or game. His commitment to the sport has also included serving on the executive and as a president with Wilmot Soccer Club for 10 years and he has coached and mentored many other teams as well.
Congratulations to both regional finalists, who will receive a Canadian Soccer Association National Team prize pack consisting of a National Team Jersey, Canada Soccer Scarf and a $500 Umbro equipment voucher!
