Alexander Shaw... football family (father)... served in the Royal Air Force as a wireless operator and air gunner... he was 26 years old when he moved from Glasgow to Toronto in June 1951... married wife Jean in 1958... he was 88 years old when he passed away in Parry Sound on 4 January 2013...

represented Canada in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in 1957, of note the first-ever Canadian team to feature in the competition... made one international “A” appearance in 1957 with Canada Soccer's National Team…

with Lovells Athletic FC, a Welsh Cup winner (1947-48)... with Toronto St. Andrews FC, a National League, Ontario Section winner (Walker Cup in 1951)... with Toronto Thistle FC, a Toronto Metropolitan League winner (1956), a two-time TML Playoff Championship winner (Grannell Trophy 1954, 1956), an CSFA Ontario Section winner (1956), and a TDFA City Championship winner (British Consols Trophy 1956)... in Canada, a four-year all-star selection across a six-year span (1952, 1953, 1956, 1957)... won the Tom Holland Memorial Award in 1955 as the most outstanding and sportsmanlike player in the Toronto & District Football Association...

as noted in the South Wales Angus in May 1947, “although on the small side, he quickly showed that he is an accomplished footballer.
