Canada's Para Soccer team has announced camp dates and roster for an upcoming project in Penticton, BC. The five-day camp runs 19-23 September with 13 players called into the camp. This marks the fifth time that coach Drew Ferguson has had his team together in 2012.
The Canadian team features Jamie Ackinclose, Samuel Charron, Chris Duehrsen, Dustin Hodgson, Brendon McAdam, Isaac Nazaroff, Brennan Nicoll, Vito Proietti, Joe Resendes, Liam Stanley, Geoff Wakefield, Derek Whitson and Yuri Woodfall.
"The camp in Penticton is hosted by the South Okanagan Youth Soccer Association," said coach Drew Ferguson. "We are bringing in a combination of youth and senior players. Of note, Charron is 14, Stanley is 15 and Nazaroff (from the South Okanagan area) in 16."
Both Nazaroff and Joe Resendes are taking part in their first Para Soccer project of the 2012 season.
Also of note, coach Ferguson said the team will look at four goalkeepers during the five-day camp. The goalkeepers are Nicoll, Resendes, Whitson and Woodfall. Said Ferguson, "this should make for good competition and allow our goalkeeper coach to assess them over the five-day camp."
Canada’s Para Soccer team features players who have cerebral palsy or have had a stroke or brain injury. Athletes that are interested in Canada’s Para Soccer team may contact head coach Ferguson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
