Association announces new partnership with Teck Cominco

The Canadian Soccer Association and Teck Cominco have announced a new multi-year partnership which offers significant investment in Canadian soccer. Teck Cominco’s partnership will provide a key role in supporting Canada’s women’s senior team for which Teck Cominco has been named a presenting sponsor."The Association is very pleased to have confirmed a multi-year partnership with Teck Cominco," says Canadian Soccer Association General Secretary Peter Montopoli. "Teck Cominco joins a group of winning partners that will help our national teams compete on the international stage."
Canada’s senior women’s national team recently qualified for the 2008 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament, thus becoming the first Canadian team in 24 years and the first women’s team in Association history to qualify for the Olympics.
"The Women’s World Cup team is very proud to have Teck Cominco as a new partner," says Even Pellerud, head coach of Canada’s women’s senior team. "We are very pleased to have settled a deal with Teck Cominco for the upcoming years. This support is another major breakthrough in terms of sponsorship for the women’s program. Teck Cominco’s partnership will play a big part in the growing the game at the youngest levels and paving the way for development programs for Canada’s emerging stars. Teck Cominco joins a growing list of proud partners of soccer in Canada. The women's national team now has Winners as its title sponsor and Teck Cominco as its presenting sponsor.
