6 August 1987 - Tosaint Ricketts (Edmonton, AB)
Canadian striker Tosaint Ricketts is in his third season with the national team, having just last year set a national record for appearances as a substitute in a single year (eight). This year, he has started in three of his four appearances as Canada takes part in the CONCACAF 3rd Round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Qualifiers. Before coming to the full national "A" squad, Ricketts represented Canada at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007.
11 August 1870 - Walter Bowman (Waterloo, ON) - d. 7-Mar-1948
Walter Wells Bowman holds the distinction of being the first non-British footballer on record to play in England when he played for Accrington in the Football League in 1892. The centre-half from Waterloo, Ontario was part of the Canadian team that toured the United Kingdom in 1888. After a season with Accrington, he played in the English Second Division with Ardwick (which became Manchester City). He was posthumously honoured by The Soccer Hall of Fame in 2008.
