2015 Ombrelle Active Start Soccer Fest Season Review

Another successful season of the Ombrelle Active Start Soccer Fest program has come to a close with close to 150 community soccer clubs hosting festivals from coast to coast. In 2015, Canada’s largest grassroots soccer program connected with over 100,000 Active Start participants aged 8-12 and more than 200,000 on-site attendees, including families, coaches and volunteers. Canada Soccer`s Ombrelle Active Start Soccer Fests continue to deliver valuable financial, promotional and technical resources to the hosting of community soccer celebrations year after year.

Highlights from the 2015 season include the introduction of the Chevrolet Soccer Skills Program at festivals across the country. As a fun development program, Chevrolet Soccer Skills is a series of station-work activities designed to enhance the core skills of young soccer players and to provide them with the best chance of progressing through the Canada Soccer Pathway.

Additional highlights include appearances from members of the Canadian Women`s National Team at select festivals as well as the attendance of program sponsors at select festivals, providing additional giveaways including Mott’s Fruitsations snacks for every player, Amway Coaches bags, and a Canon photographer package.

Looking ahead to the 20th year of the Ombrelle Active Start Soccer Fest program, special station-work clinics are being planned for the landmark anniversary season. About Canada Soccer`s Ombrelle Active Start Soccer Fests

Ombrelle Active Start Soccer Fests is a grant-based program designed to provide resources to host a soccer celebration in your community. Clubs can apply online and pending provincial approval will receive a festival package, which they can use to showcase their event. In addition to this, clubs will receive an event package which includes individual participation certificates and a wide array of promotional giveaways from the program’s national sponsors.
